Crafting Free verse

**The Art of Crafting a Whisper**

In the quiet of the evening,

where shadows stretch and yawn,

a single leaf pirouettes,

its dance unwitnessed,

save for the wind.

The sky wears its bruises proudly,

violets and indigos bleeding into twilight.

A lone bird calls out,

its song a thread pulling at the seams of silence.

I sit on the edge of this moment,

where time folds into itself,

a river meeting the sea.

The air tastes of endings,

but the earth hums with beginnings.

Here, I write with no pen,

no ink to stain my hands—

only thought, only breath.

The words spill like rain,

unbound and unmeasured.

**The Crafting Process**

This poem emerged from an intentional immersion in sensory details and imagery. I began by visualizing a specific time of day—dusk—and allowed my imagination to explore its textures, colors, and sounds. Free verse poetry offers the freedom to eschew rigid structures, so I focused on rhythm and flow rather than meter or rhyme. Each line was crafted to evoke a mood or sensation, layering natural elements with introspection. The final touch was ensuring the poem felt cohesive, like a single thread weaving through its stanzas, while leaving space for interpretation.

Happy Writing
